The Reward Harry's bravery earns him the respect of Dumbledore and the school. He is rewarded with points and the knowledge that he is a true Gryffindor.

Hermione's Resourcefulness

The Brains Behind the Bravery The Research Hermione spends hours in the library, even risking detention to get books from the Restricted Section. She discovers the basilisk's nature and the importance of pipes. The Sacrifice Hermione is petrified because she was using a mirror to look around corners, a precaution she took after deducing the monster's method. Her quick thinking saved her life but not her freedom. The Contribution Hermione's research is the key to solving the mystery. Her courage is intellectual, but no less important. She sacrifices her own safety for the truth.

Ron's Loyalty

The Steadfast Friend The Companion Ron accompanies Harry into the Forbidden Forest, despite his fear of spiders. He also helps with the Polyjuice scheme and stays by Harry's side. The Stand When the spiders attack, Ron does not run. He helps Harry escape and later tries to clear the cave-in to reach him. His loyalty is unwavering. The Recognition Ron receives a Special Award for Services to the School. His bravery may be overshadowed by Harry's, but it is essential to their success.
